What We Know (Psalm 97)

WHAT WE KNOW (PSALM 97)

The absolute assurance of God’s victory enables us to rejoice at all times.

  • The Lord Reigns (vv. 1-6)

  • The Lord is Exalted Far Above all Gods (vv. 7-9)

  • Rejoice and Hate Evil (vv. 10-12)

Discussion Starters

Monday—What does it mean that “the Lord reigns”? (v. 1) Does it mean that he is one king among many or something more?

Tuesday—Read Joshua 5:13-15. Who is the Commander of the Lord’s Army? What does he mean by “no” when asked whose side he is on? What’s the right question?

Wednesday—Are we immune to worshipping false gods? What are some of the false gods of our age? Which are particularly tempting to you?

Thursday—What is it that enable Christians to rejoice even when they are suffering greatly? What do you need in order to rejoice when times are hard in your life?

Friday—What does it meant to hate evil? (v. 10) Are there evils that you have played with and kept close that you need to confess and surrender to God?
