Compassion (Psalm 94)

COMPASSION (PSALM 94)

Left unchecked, pride will blind you to what God is doing in and around you.

  • Blinded by Pride (vv. 1-7)

  • Seeing God’s Faithfulness (vv. 16-23)

  • Wisdom is Better than Prosperity (vv. 12-15; 2 Peter 3:9; Romans 2:4; Luke 22:42)

  • Wisdom Leads to Compassion (vv. 8-11; Luke 23:34)

Discussion Starters

Monday—Would you rather eat snails or uncooked chicken? Would you rather be humble or proud? Why? Would you rather be wise or prosperous? Why?

Tuesday—Read verses 1-7. Have you ever made your prayers sound like you were seeking God’s glory, when you were really seeking your own? Why do we do that? What drives prayers like these? Is God fooled?

Wednesday—Read verses 16-23. What are some ways that you have seen God’s faithfulness and provision in your life? How can reflecting on those help you when times are hard and you see the wicked prospering?

Thursday—Read 2 Peter 3:9 and Romans 2:4. How does wisdom teach us to see God’s patience? Why do we tend to be comfortable with God’s patience when we are the recipients, but not when others are?

Friday—Read verses 12-15. How is wisdom better than comfort or prosperity? What does wisdom give you that prosperity never can? Bonus—Read verses 9-11. What is an area where God is calling to compassion, not vengeance? What might that look like for you?
