Discussion Starters
Monday—Details are important. Why does the Bible point out that Zacchaeus was short and the chief tax collector? (vv. 2-3) Is this meant to make you pity Zacchaeus or identify with him?
Tuesday—What is shame? What causes it? How does it make people feel? Have you ever experienced shame?
Wednesday—What are different ways that we try to cover our own shame? Are any of them successful?
Thursday—Why is important that Jesus stopped first and then looked up? Was this a chance meeting? How would you have felt if you were hiding in a tree and Jesus called out to you?
Friday—Why is it significant that the cross is called a tree? What is meant by the symbolism that Zacchaeus comes down a tree and Jesus goes up one?
