The Life-Giver (1 Kings 17; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5, 12-19, 45)

THE LIFE-GIVER

1 KINGS 17 | 1 CORINTHIANS 15:3-5, 12-19, 45

In the resurrection, Jesus became the life-giver, able to give us eternal life as the reward for his perfect life and his willingness to suffer in our place.

  • Resurrection on the Third Day (vv. 8-24)

  • Elijah in the Wilderness (vv. 1-7)

  • The Life-Giver (1 Corinthians 15)

Discussion Starters

Monday—Why does 1 Corinthians 15 say that the resurrection is of first importance? What does it mean that the Old Testament scriptures foresaw the resurrection on the third day?

Tuesday—Why do you think that the mother’s first impulse in 1 Kings 17:18 is to think it’s her sin that caused the death of her son? Did Elijah come to shame her or bless her? When hard times come, is your first thought often that God is punishing you?

Wednesday—Whose resurrection are you supposed to see in the raising of the son—your’s or Jesus’? Why is this important? How is it meant to encourage you?

Thursday—What did Elijah need to suffer in order to raise the young man back to life? What is this mean to teach you about Jesus?

Friday—How does God want you to be encouraged by the resurrection of Jesus? What does it guarantee you?
