Where Love Begins and Ends (1 John 4:7-21)

Love is the sacrificial concern for others that defines God and should define us as we reflect God’s love to those around us.

  • The Beginning of Love (vv. 7-8, 10, 12-13, 19)

  • The Manifestation of Love (vv. 9-10, 14)

  • The End of Love (vv. 8, 12, 15-17, 19-21)

Discussion Starters

Monday—What does it mean that God is love? What does that tell you about understanding and practicing love?

Tuesday—How is love made visible? What does the cross of Jesus tell you about the nature of love? How should that be reflected in your life?

Wednesday—Do you ever doubt that God loves you? Why? Where should you look for confidence that he loves you?

Thursday—Is it possible to be a Christian and not show love to others? What does it mean to love actual people?

Friday—What does it mean that “love perfected is love reflected”? Who are some people in your life that God is calling you to show love?
