48 - Your One Thing

Your One Thing

(LUKE 18:18-34 | MICAH 6:6-8)

Jesus sacrificed all for you and calls you to sacrifice all for him.

  1. THE GOOD TEACHER (VV. 18-19)

  2. THE RICH RULER (VV. 20-23)

  3. THE GOOD LORD (VV. 31-34)

  4. YOUR ONE THING (VV. 24-30)

Discussion Starters

Monday—What does it mean that everyone has one thing that they don’t want to give up to God? What is your one thing that you struggle to give up?

Tuesday—What was the big deal about the Ruler calling Jesus “good”? What’s the implication of acknowledging that Jesus is good? Why does this scare people?

Wednesday—Why is it so hard for those who have a lot of money to give it up? Is money the only thing that can have that kind of power in our lives?

Thursday—Is Jesus calling us to do something he wasn’t willing to do? Was he unwilling to let go of all earthly comforts and blessings?

Friday—What does it mean to make Jesus your one thing? What assurance does Jesus give you that doing so won’t be in vain?

Next Week’s Sermon

In preparation for next week, please read Luke 18:35-43 and memorize “And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”” (Luke 18:38)
